Why I Am Running for the 40th Legislative District 1 Position
Two years ago in 2024 there was a “No Income Tax” Initiative that was very popular with the majority of Washingtonians across all demographics.
But this year the majority Legislature, including my opponent, decided to ignore the majority of Washingtonians,. They passed an Income Tax in Washington State anyway.
That is not how a representative government works. And that is why I am running. We need someone who will listen.
Like Argentines who united together with a common cause—ejecting the Communists from government office--together, we can remove Washington representatives who don’t listen.
That is why I am running for office. I WILL listen. I will vote for the people!

Universal Healthcare
I support universal health. The focus of our attention is all wrong. When someone gets a rash, the question seems to be what expensive medicines can we put on the rash to make it go away in a few months instead of why are you getting a rash? By examining (asking questions!) and addressing the root causes of health issues, rather than defaulting to the use of expensive pharma to mask symptoms, we can improve the quality of life for EVERY Washington resident. As a mother, and as your representative, that would continue to be my main focus.
Inevitably, people need health care. Through grant funding and donations, universities and individual doctors continue to research, refine, and discover new options and solutions for healthcare challenges. However, insurance and treatment costs continue to skyrocket leaving many of the available healthcare options out of reach. Catastrophic insurance and allowing interstate competition for insurance decreases the cost of insurance and treatment significantly. Neither of these options are currently available in Washington.
Currently the “health” or rather “sickness” industry is the 5th largest industry in the USA. With emphasis on real Health, wait times decrease, as do prices, as people become more healthy.
Why do so many Canadians come to Bellingham for procedures and healthcare? Because Canadian Universal Healthcare is neither timely nor accessible. To think that it would be any different in Washington is folly. Universal healthcare decreases competition, then complacency sets in. We need high quality healthcare to survive, and we need to keep our competitive health services to do it. WE CAN DO BETTER!
Corporate Healthcare
I will advocate for patient choice and research regulations to create more opportunities for private medical practice so individual attention is a possibility for patients. Those who prefer corporate impersonal--get the medication and get out—can chose corporate medicine, those who prefer more individual attention should also have a choice. The bill HB 1675 would force the corporations to allow the doctor more time, but would not solve the issue of accessibility, and may actually do more harm than good.
More Taxes on Very Wealthy Individuals & Corporations
Washington doesn’t have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem. Our state budget has doubled in the last 10 years--50% higher than inflation and immigration! Individual/Family income has not kept pace, straining many Washingtonians’ budgets. Still our Legislature continues to ask Washingtonians to pay more rather than trimming that budget.
Ineffective programs failing to do the job they were designed for coupled with zero accountability for allocated funds has left $1.3 billion (yes BILLION...that’s 1,300 millions) unaccounted for in the most recent state audit.
There is no need to increase any taxes in our state. I will explore ways to decrease existing taxes, give small business a break, and examine how Florida’s model is eliminating taxes to look for solutions that work. WE CAN DO BETTER!
Water Adjudication Process
The 40th Legislative District frequently does not have a water shortage problem, but an overabundance of water. The one size fits all for any given county is not only ineffective, but damaging.
A long time ago, some landlords came up to a king and demanded he sign a paper or lose his “job.” The king did sign the paper and for the first time ever, the natural right of a human to their own life was recognized officially by the Magna Carta. A natural right is a right that every human around the world desires. We all desire our own life. It was later evidenced that unless an individual had property (whether intellectual or physical) and the freedom to use that property, that individual could not sustain their own life. And so the natural rights to liberty and property were recognized, and put in our WA state Constitution (Art. 1 Sec 3), Declaration of Independence, and US Constitution. With the state trying to determine the “rights” to water, it is disassociating water from the land. However, one cannot live on a land without water, and thus it is a necessary part of the land. Those who buy land that doesn’t have water, have cheaper land and need to come up with a way to access water in another manner.
Some people are also trying to cling to the old ways. Some of the old ways are good, but others need to be let go. With our current technologies, which are in many cases helping to improve the old ways dramatically, some of the old ways need to be disposed of. Water rights that help salmon only in the old style will not help enough to sustain the increase in population of the growing tribes, and growing population in general. Salmon hatcheries have been very successful sustaining the wild salmon population and need to be encouraged, without decreasing the ever growing need for electricity and food in other areas.
Top Budget Priorities
My main priority is to cut the heavy tax burden on working families. Eliminating the state income tax, the Carbon Emissions Tax, and other programs that are ineffective is a logical starting point. Reducing the Carbon Emissions tax would decrease the price on gasoline which would affect (decrease!) food prices in the State of Washington and provide immediate relief to struggling families.
Eliminating fraud is also a priority. Eliminating fraud balances out decreases in funding.
Our families and businesses are over taxed. By improving our businesses climate we can make Washington attractive again for entreprenuers, scientists, and business to come innovate and grow.
Secure Elections
Secure elections preserve the right of every US citizen to choose those who best represent their interests. To suggest that any citizen is incapable of securing identification—required to bank, receive medical treatment, drive a car, access government assistance, obtain a passport or fly on a commercial airline—is insulting. The best way to have secure elections is to have in-person voting with ID.
Those who suggest that women, people of color, or indeed any functioning member of society—all of whom require proper identification after the age of 18 to do anything—are incapable of acquiring ID is disingenuous at minimum, or, at worst, seriously stereotyped prejudice.
WA State was ranked 46th out of 50 in the nation in election security recently. We Can Do Better!
Improving Public Saftey
The best way I know of to improve public safety is to get criminals off of the streets. Local, state, and federal law enforcement officials need to be able to work together to make this happen. Coming into compliance with federal law allows for equal standing before the law and is a good thing for Washington. Working to decrease drug cartel presence, combatting drug abuse using treatment, laws that discourage use, and enforcement will reduce the problems drugs and homelessness create for Washington residents. Working with federal authorities on these issues can only improve the quality of life for Washington families. WE CAN DO BETTER!
Local Papers
Government needs to stay out of local papers. Local papers need to be free of governmental and outside influences to report the news freely and fairly.
Redistricting
The main item on this agenda I would be in favor of is to make certain that only citizens are counted for representation, who will be paying for the policies for the rest of their lives.
Challenges for the 40th Legislative District
One of the greatest challenges the 40th Legislative District faces is overbearing regulation that destroys initiative without accountability.
As stated above, our nation was founded upon the natural rights of life, liberty and property. When the government interferes with those rights, the abilities of the citizens to freely create and produce is severely impinged. We need to roll back the restrictions and let our citizens work freely once again.
